CBSA removes violent criminal from Canada

Calgary, Alberta, April 30, 2010 — The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced today that Frank Fayke Dwomoh, 29, has been removed from Canada. He was removed under escort by CBSA officers on April 28, 2010.

Dwomoh had a long history of violence in Calgary. His most recent conviction was in 2005. Upon completion of his sentence in September 2009, Dwomoh remained in CBSA custody pending his removal from Canada.

“I welcome the news that the CBSA has successfully removed this violent criminal from Canada,” said the Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety. “Removing dangerous criminals from our country is integral to protecting Canadians and making our communities safe. The removal of inadmissible individuals is necessary to preserve the integrity of our immigration system for those who come to our country lawfully.”

Canada will not be a safe haven for those who pose a threat to the safety and security of Canadians. The CBSA is committed to enforcing all removal orders as soon as practicable with our priority being the removal of individuals for reasons of security, human or international rights violations, serious criminality or organized criminality.
